141 Program
Now offering both Part 141 and Part 61 training
As of September 2026, Cloud 9 Aviation holds an FAA Part 141 Pilot School Certificate. We also continue to offer Part 61 training.
What Part 141 means for students
An FAA-approved syllabus. Every lesson follows a course outline the FAA has reviewed and approved. You always know where you are, what's next, and what you need to finish.
Fewer minimum hours. Part 141 Private Pilot students can finish in as few as 35 flight hours, compared with the 40-hour minimum under Part 61.
Stage checks at every step. A check instructor reviews your progress at each milestone, so problems get caught early and you're prepared for your checkride.
FAA oversight. Our instructors, curriculum, aircraft and records are held to the FAA's Part 141 standards and are regularly inspected.
A clear path to the airlines. Structured training through CCBC's aviation degree supports your route to a Restricted ATP (R-ATP) with fewer required hours.
Veterans' education benefits. Eligible veterans may be able to use GI Bill® benefits toward flight training through CCBC. Contact CCBC's Veterans Affairs office for details.
Part 141 or Part 61: which is right for you?
Both lead to the same FAA pilot certificates. The difference is how the training is structured.
Part 141 follows a set, FAA-approved syllabus with stage checks. It's ideal for CCBC degree students, career-track pilots, and anyone who wants a structured program.
Part 61 is flexible and can be adjusted to your schedule and pace. It's a great fit for recreational pilots, busy professionals, and students adding ratings on their own timeline.
Not sure which fits? Message us and one of our instructors will help you choose.
Whether you're just starting your aviation journey or advancing your skills, our partnership gives you top-tier flight training, resources and guidance built around what aspiring pilots need.
Our mission is to help you soar to new heights with comprehensive training, a strong support network, and expert instructors dedicated to your success.
Future pilots who enroll at CCBC can complete all program academic courses virtually and do their flight training close to home at Allegheny County (AGC) and Washington County (AFJ) airports.
Graduates will earn their Private license, Instrument rating, Commercial certificate, and Multi-Engine and/or Certified Flight Instructor ratings, and can benefit from earning a Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) Certificate.
